Cranioplasty is a neurosurgical procedure used to repair skull defects. Despite being a well-known intervention, there is a lack of guidelines for the management of those patients who require post-traumatic cranioplasty.
In this paper experts of neurosurgery, physical medicine and rehabilitation present the first consensus-based clinical recommendations, achieved during the International Conference on Recent Advances in Neurotraumatology (ICRAN) in June 2018.
The main topics are indication and technique of cranioplasty, materials, timing, post-traumatic hydrocephalus after decompressive craniectomy, and pediatric cranioplasty.
